What is a communal aerial system?

Individual aerials and dishes are impractical and unsightly for some types of residential property, large blocks of flats whith hundreds of resendents in them can not possibly have a hundred different areals on it. Therefore there is usually a communal aerial system of some kind instead, this will supply TV signals to every property through the use of a single aerial. Commonly these systems will be referred to as IRS systems, SMATV or MATV systems, each of these are different types of communal TV systems, and each has its idividual benefits.
